Protestors talk in the streets near Tahrir square as the future of the country hangs in balence. Street battles raged around the heavily fortified Interior Ministry, near Tahrir square, with police and army troops using tear gas and rubber bullets to keep the protesters from storming the ministry. The clashes have left at least 38 killed and 2,000 protesters wounded, mostly from gas inhalation or injuries caused by rubber bullets fired by the army and the police. The United Nations strongly condemned what it called the use of excessive force by security forces. Nov. 23, 2011
