The community gave the calf to his grandfather with the understanding that the proceeds would pay for Ayun's schooling as both of his parents were killed in the Tsunami. Ayun himself could not own the cow directly because he lost all his identiy papers in the Tsunami and is too young. Ayun is bringing the calf to give to another family at a passing on the gift ceremony.
