Diego (left) speaks with other members of his 18th street clique in San Salvador. Diego followed his parents to the states when he was 10, like many families they were fleeing the war in the 1980's. Soon after arriving in the states Diego joined the rapidly growing 18th street gang, and by the time he was 20 he found himself in jail for attempted murder. He was deported in 2000 and currently lives in a house paid for by his parents in the United States. In and out of prison he struggles to find employment and move on from his current life in the gang.
